Manten Nagoya is a sauna-and-hotel facility in Nagoya operated by the MANTEN brand, whose name means “full sky” in Japanese. The name refers to the venue’s main feature: a planetarium-style lounge. The room is kept dim, with cushioned seating arranged under a large ceiling projection that shows stars, constellations, and slowly drifting night-sky imagery. Lying there produces something close to the experience of looking at a clear sky, but without the need to go outside.
The facility combines overnight accommodation, public bath areas, and a sauna. The lounge is intended for the rest phase of the bathing routine: after a hot sauna session and a cold plunge, guests can lie down, let their body temperature settle, and watch the ceiling. The arrangement is practical as well as atmospheric, since resting after a sauna is supposed to be part of the process, not an afterthought.
Manten Nagoya has become a steady destination for local residents and travelers looking for a convenient urban bath. The planetarium ceiling is also the basis for the limited-edition souvenir produced for the facility’s fifth anniversary gift campaign.
