Goyang is a city immediately northwest of Seoul. It is best known for KINTEX, the largest convention and exhibition center in the area, which draws business visitors throughout the year. The city’s main recreational space is Ilsan Lake Park, a large park built around a lake, with cycling paths, seasonal flower displays, and open-air lawns used for performances. Every spring, the Goyang International Flower Festival takes place in the park and fills the grounds with large-scale floral arrangements. Around the lake and near KINTEX, restaurants, cafés, and breweries have opened in increasing number, giving the area a food-and-drink scene that did not exist in its current form a decade ago. Goyang’s appeal is therefore practical: it offers convention facilities, outdoor space, and enough eating and drinking options to make a visit worthwhile.
