Seoul Light DDP Autumn
🗓️ 2026.09.03 ~ 2026.09.13
Seoul Light DDP 2026 Autumn, the world’s largest atypical media art festival, will illuminate the center of Seoul at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) for 11 days from September 3 to September 13. Under the overarching theme “DAYBREAKER”, the festival is organized into three editions—Autumn, Winter, and Countdown—each built around innovation and a spirit of challenge that breaks through darkness and opens a new light.
Autumn opens the first chapter with the sub-theme “K-Original Light”, focusing on the fundamental light that has shaped today’s Korean culture. At the heart of the event is a new stage—the first of its kind for Seoul Light DDP—grounded in Nam June Paik’s philosophy and presented through live performances and real-time interactive media art. The program also includes media art that reinterprets the works of Yoo Youngkuk and Hangeul in a contemporary way, as well as performances combining light, sound, and lasers. Through this combination, the event aims to create another beginning—one that makes people remember the future of Seoul Light DDP.

What is DDP (Dongdaemun Design Plaza)?
DDP is a cultural complex in Seoul, designed by architect Zaha Hadid. Its exterior is characterized by curved metallic surfaces and an irregular silhouette, and it has been cited as the largest irregularly shaped building in the world. The project was completed in 2014.
The name expands to Dongdaemun Design Plaza. The building brings together exhibition halls, design shops, and a convention center. Interior walkways connect these spaces, and the structure adjoins the Dongdaemun History & Culture Park. This places the plaza on a site that also contains historical relics and public green space, so the complex operates in dialogue with older layers of the city.
At night, the facade is used for large-scale media art projections. The surrounding plazas and stairs host performances and cultural events, including Seoul Light DDP, an open-air program that is free to the public. Those events are among the main reasons the plaza functions as a meeting point for people across design, art, fashion, and technology.
