The Busan International Rock Festival is Korea’s first and longest-running international rock festival, with a 27-year legacy that began in 2000. In 2026, it will be held for three days from October 2 (Fri) to October 4 (Sun) at Samnak Ecological Park, with a lineup mixing domestic and international artists. Visitors can watch a variety of performances according to their tastes, from rising artists to global top-tier headliners, on stages set up throughout the park. The three-day schedule also leaves room for participation: side events, food, and camping are all part of the festival.
Programs
The festival consists of three main areas:
- Main Program: Busan International Rock Festival
- Side Programs: Rookies on the BU-ROCK, Road to BU-ROCK, etc.
- Others: MD booth, Food Court Lounge, Camping Zone, etc.
The main program is the core three-day concert schedule. The side programs, including Rookies on the BU-ROCK and Road to BU-ROCK, provide additional performance slots, while free open stages host visitor-participation game events and singing contests. Away from the stages, the festival grounds include an MD booth for merchandise, a food court lounge featuring Busan’s local food (as of the 2025 festival), and the Samnak Auto Camping Zone for those who want to camp.

Samnak Ecological Park is a riverside green space in Busan, South Korea, located along the Nakdong River. The park was established to preserve the river’s wetlands and offer recreational space for residents and visitors. It contains open lawns, extensive reed beds, and a network of walking and cycling paths that span several kilometers. Its position near the river estuary makes it a stopover for migratory birds, and birdwatchers can observe species such as geese and ducks during the migration seasons. The reed beds also provide habitat for insects and small animals, and a small observation tower gives visitors a view over the river and surrounding vegetation.
The park’s flat, open fields are used for the Busan International Rock Festival, which has taken place here since 2006. The grounds are large enough to accommodate multiple stages, food vendors, and a camping zone. The trees and river breeze provide some relief from summer heat, but visitors should still prepare for direct sun and long walks between stages. Basic facilities such as restrooms, drinking water, and shaded rest areas are available, though they are not designed for the scale of a major festival. Parking is limited, and public transportation is the recommended way to reach the site. The park functions as a wetland preserve throughout the year, and its use for the festival is a temporary arrangement that does not disrupt its ecological role.
