Kamen Rider Agito 25th Anniversary Memorial Exhibition in Nagoya (2026): Event Dates, Tickets, and How to Visit

Kamen Rider Agito 25th Anniversary Memorial: True Agito Exhibition

“Kamen Rider Agito” first aired in 2001 as the second installment of the Heisei Kamen Rider series. Produced on the heels of the massive popularity of “Kamen Rider Kuuga” the year prior, this was the first work in the franchise to feature multiple Kamen Riders—a format that has since become the standard. In that sense, it can rightly be called the origin that solidified the foundation of the series leading up to the present day.

Its peak viewership rating of 13.9% remains the highest ever recorded among the Heisei and Reiwa Kamen Rider series, a record that has yet to be broken more than two decades later.

Now, a quarter-century has passed. This 25th-anniversary exhibition approaches the “truth” that lies beyond the “soul” awakened once again, woven together by “testimonies” from the creators and cast involved at the time, as well as precious “materials” from the production era.

What is Kamen Rider Agito?

Kamen Rider Agito is a Japanese superhero television series that aired on TV Asahi from January 2001 to January 2002. It is the second installment in the Heisei era of the Kamen Rider franchise, following Kamen Rider Kuuga, and was produced by Toei in association with Ishimori Productions.

The series follows Shouichi Tsugami, a young man with total amnesia who discovers he can transform into the titular hero, Kamen Rider Agito. As Shouichi tries to recover his past, he becomes involved in a string of murders committed by the Unknown (also called Lords), beings that resemble angels. The plot mixes mystery, supernatural horror, and tokusatsu action, and returns throughout to questions about human evolution, destiny, and the choices available to ordinary people.

Agito’s design is defined by a horned helmet and a silver-and-black body. Over the course of the series, he gains additional forms—Storm and Flame, each with distinct weapons—and later the more powerful Burning and Shining forms. These transformations are tied to his physical and emotional state, and the show makes a point of showing their limits as well as their advantages.

The supporting cast includes Makoto Hikawa, a police officer who becomes the rival warrior Gills, and Ryo Ashihara, whose own transformation runs parallel to Shouichi’s story. Their arcs are integrated into the main plot rather than treated as side attractions. The series is also notable for its comparatively restrained tone, its focus on character relationships, and fight choreography that gives each form a different style of combat. Kamen Rider Agito premiered in January 2001, and its 25th anniversary falls in 2026.
