Mirai Link 2026: Traditional Crafts and the Future – Rinku 9th Anniversary Commemorative Exhibition
From Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 27, 2026, Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER will host Mirai Link 2026: Traditional Crafts and the Future – Rinku 9th Anniversary Commemorative Exhibition. The show, held in Tower Space A on the tower’s 3rd floor, brings together Rinku, a group of nine female artisans who carry on Japanese traditional crafts and work primarily in the Tokai region.
About Rinku
Rinku was established in 2017. The group’s nine members have each refined their own skills within the world of traditional crafts, and through exhibitions and workshops they have continued to communicate new possibilities for traditional crafts. One of Rinku’s central aims is to convey the beauty of handwork to a wider audience.
Exhibition Theme: “Mirai” (Future)
For this exhibition, Rinku has chosen the theme “Mirai” (Future). In addition to conventional works, each member has created new works that represent the future as she imagines it. The result is a look at both established craft techniques and the directions in which the artisans see their work moving.
Visitors can see the charm of crafts nurtured in this region, along with the joy, beauty, and new challenges of craftsmanship.

What is Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER?
Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER is a 180-meter observation tower in Nagoya’s Sakae district. It opened in 1954 as Nagoya TV Tower, one of Japan’s first broadcast towers. After a major renovation, it was renamed Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER; “MIRAI” means “future” in Japanese.
The tower has an observation deck with views over the city. Its lower floors are used for exhibitions and public events. The central location places it near Oasis 21, Hisaya-Ōdori Park, and the main shopping streets of Sakae.
The tower will serve as one of the venues for Mirai Link 2026, an event centered on traditional Japanese crafts. The program will include displays, demonstrations, and workshops by craft practitioners from different regions. The tower’s role in the event comes from its position in central Nagoya and its history as a public gathering place; there is no direct connection between the building and the crafts themselves.
