Enter the Haunted Prison: Salgwiok at the Korean Folk Village

From April 6th to November 10th, 2024, brace yourself for a terrifying experience at the Korean Folk Village’s newest horror attraction: Salgwiok, the Haunted Prison.

Legend has it that five years ago, the once sacred Shindanggol village, ruled by shaman Lee Hwa, transformed into a den of evil. Now, rumors swirl of vengeful spirits, known as "salgwi," inhabiting the mountain pass. As a daring exorcist, you must venture into their world to uncover the truth behind these chilling tales. But be warned, escape is not an option, and unimaginable horrors await.

This 15-minute immersive experience spans across eight terrifying sections, starting with a blood-soaked path behind Naejaewon that will send chills down your spine. Prepare for Korea’s longest outdoor horror course, stretching over 400 meters, where eerie set pieces and unsettling traps create an atmosphere of constant dread. The underground labyrinth will test your courage as you navigate through its twisting corridors, each door you open revealing a new level of terror.

Caution: Certain sections may trigger claustrophobia due to the inescapable feeling of being trapped.

Salgwiok is not for the faint of heart. This year’s experience is even more intense than previous years, with entry restricted to those 13 years or older. Pregnant women, the elderly, and individuals with heart conditions are strongly advised against participating.

As a final challenge, test your skills by creating a traditional "금줄" (sacred straw rope) to seal away the evil spirits and earn rewards.
