Jukbyeon Port Seafood Festival

Jukbyeon Port is a working fishing harbor on South Koreaโ€™s eastern coast, in Uljin County, North Gyeongsang Province. The harbor sits along a rocky stretch of shoreline, protected by breakwaters, and is used by local boats that land squid, mackerel, crabs, and shellfish. Squid is the portโ€™s primary catch, and it dominates the market stalls and restaurant menus.

The fish market runs along the waterfront. Boats pull in beside the quay, unload crates, and buyers sort through the dayโ€™s catch while visitors watch. Vendors sell fish fresh, dried, or marinated, and nearby restaurants grill portions at tables. The rest of the harbor is made up of moored boats, gear sheds, and narrow quays, with Jukbyeon Beach and the breakwaters at the edges. The port is not a staged attraction; it is a place where seafood is caught, sold, and eaten, and the routines of that trade are visible from the dockside.
