2026 Kaohsiung Halloween | You’re a Pumpkin, So I’m a Pumpkin
Kaohsiung is preparing to transform the Weiwuying National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts into a sprawling celebration of the macabre and the whimsical. The “You’re a Pumpkin, So I’m a Pumpkin” event offers visitors a blend of immersive light installations, community markets, and family-oriented activities that distinguish it from previous iterations through its specific focus on “melon” themed aesthetics and integrated artistic displays.
Event Logistics
The celebration spans four days, beginning on Thursday, October 30, and concluding on Sunday, November 1. The event is centrally located at the Weiwuying National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts, which is easily accessible via public transit—visitors are advised to use the MRT Weiwuying Station and exit via Exit 6.
Schedule of Activities and Attractions
Immersive Light and Visual Experiences

What is Weiwuying?
Weiwuying is the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts, a performing arts complex in Weiwuying Metropolitan Park in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It is one of the largest performing arts centers in the world. Designed by the Dutch firm Mecanoo and opened in 2018, the building has a low, curved profile with a grass-covered roof that is partly open to the public. The form draws on the site’s history as a military training ground, with long, horizontal lines that blend the building into the parkland around it.
The center contains four performance venues: an opera house, a concert hall, a playhouse, and a recital hall. It also has exhibition spaces, public plazas, and open-air areas used for installations, festivals, and community events. Programming ranges from opera, orchestral concerts, and theater to pop music, children’s performances, and outdoor gatherings. The venues are connected by a common lobby, and the building is integrated into the park rather than separated from it, so visitors can move easily between indoor performances and outdoor activities.
For Halloween 2026, Weiwuying will host “You’re a Pumpkin, So I’m a Pumpkin,” a seasonal event centered on light installations and themed markets. The building’s curved architecture and plazas provide a suitable setting for large displays, while the surrounding park gives visitors space to walk, rest, or avoid the busiest areas. The event is aimed at families, but the open layout also allows visitors to move between installations, market stalls, and quieter parts of the park at their own pace. In that sense, Weiwuying functions as a cultural venue, a public space, and a part of the city’s park system.
