Sapdari, A Festival of Excitement

The Sapdari Festival, themed "A Special Day in Sapgyo, Connecting City and Countryside with Joy!", is scheduled to take place at Sapgyo Market on Saturday, March 15, 2025. This event, a key component of the Sapgyo-eup Rural Center Activation Project, has the stated goal of reinvigorating the Sapgyo Market commercial district. It offers a diverse array of programs and performances, designed to provide a comprehensive and engaging experience for all attendees.

Programs and Performances

The festival’s main program is structured around several key events:

  1. Main Program:

    • "Sapdari Crash Course" offers an educational deep-dive into the history and culture of the Sapgyo region, incorporating both lectures and quizzes.
    • "Sapdari Game" blends traditional games with a survival game format, providing a unique interactive experience.
    • In addition to the above, there will be a variety of performances, including those by local residents and invited singers.

  2. Side Program:

    • A surprise auction of Sapgyo’s agricultural and specialty products.
    • The Sapdari resident singing contest.
    • Guided local tours led by a Sapdari village commentator.

  3. Experiential Program:

    • Hands-on activities such as natural cosmetics making, flower tea making, eco-friendly crafts, slime making, and face painting.

  4. Consumer Participation Events:

    • Stamp missions, encouraging active participation in festival programs.
    • Social media (SNS) certification events.

  5. Culinary Offerings:

    • Dishes featuring local specialties, such as Gopchang (beef tripe) pancakes and skewers, made with Sapgyo-eup’s renowned Gopchang.
    • A variety of foods prepared with Sapgyo-eup’s specialty rice.
    • An assortment of snacks and other food items will also be available for purchase.

The festival’s schedule is packed with notable events, including a Garaetteok (rice cake) cutting ceremony featuring rice cakes made with Sapgyo rice, and a surprise auction of local agricultural products. Performances will include Sapgyo Elementary School’s Samulnori, a Pungmulpae (farmers’ band), performances by local clubs, invited singers, and a resident singing contest.
