Andong International Mask Dance Festival

Andong Maskdance Festival

Date: September 27th ~ October 6th, 2024

Andong is home to the Hahoe Byeolsingut Talnori, a traditional masked dance drama passed down for over 800 years in a UNESCO World Heritage-listed Korean historical village. Through this dance, villagers prayed for peace and a bountiful harvest, using the Byeolsingut ritual to usher in a new era. The Andong Maskdance Festival elevates this cultural asset to a global stage.

First held in 1997, the festival draws upon Andong’s rich cultural resources and the philosophical significance of masks and mask dances in the region. It proudly stands as Korea’s representative cultural tourism festival.
