Gwangju Busking World Cup: A Global Celebration of Street Music

The Gwangju Busking World Cup, the world’s largest busking competition, returns to energize the historic May 18th Democracy Square. This week-long festival invites 32 busking teams from 16 countries to compete in a World Cup-style tournament, showcasing their musical talents and celebrating the vibrant spirit of street performance. More than just a competition, the event fosters cross-cultural exchange, allowing musicians from diverse backgrounds to connect, collaborate, and share their unique artistry.
Finalists will receive the opportunity to perform on free busking stages throughout Gwangju’s charming old downtown areas, including Chungjang-ro, Dongmyeong-dong, and Guseo-cheong. The festival also features after-parties and Gwangju tourism familiarization tours, providing further opportunities for musical growth and international networking.
This year’s event coincides with the "Asia Music Summit in Gwangju," an international conference bringing together leading music industry experts and talented musicians to discuss the future of the Asian music industry. The summit will also feature an "Asia Showcase," highlighting musical talent from Gwangju and across Asia.
