Born in 1999 from the passion of local volunteers, the Machitobi Festa (literally "Town Jumping Festival") aimed to revitalize Kagurazaka through art and culture. A Feast for the Senses:

Over three weeks, Kagurazaka comes alive with a kaleidoscope of events. Immerse yourself in traditional Japanese arts like Noh, tea ceremonies, braiding, and rakugo. Tap your feet to the rhythm of street performances, from lively waiter races and Awa dance to the whimsical monster cat parade and music concerts. Explore captivating gallery exhibitions and engage in interactive town walks and workshops.

The grand finale on November 3rd features the highly anticipated "Drawing on the Slope/Pasting Pictures on the Slope" event. Imagine a 700-meter canvas stretching down Kagurazaka-dori, waiting for your artistic touch! Grab a paintbrush and let your imagination run wild – it’s a truly unforgettable experience for all ages.

Can’t Make it to Kagurazaka? Join the Fun Online!

Even if you can’t attend in person, you can still participate in the "Drawing on the Slope" event. Simply snap a photo of your artwork and submit it online. The executive committee will print and display your masterpiece on the street. Plus, for every online entry, ¥500 will be donated to a children’s cafeteria in Shinjuku Ward – a beautiful way to share your creativity and support a worthy cause.
