Gwacheon Performing Arts Festival

Gwacheon Festival of Performing Arts

🗓️ Date: September 27th – 29th, 2024

The Gwacheon Festival of Performing Arts, hosted by Gwacheon City and organized by the Gwacheon Cultural Foundation, is one of Korea’s leading urban festivals. First held in 1997 as the "World Madangnori Festival," it has earned a reputation for its high-quality street theater and diverse outdoor performances.

Every September, the festival presents a rich tapestry of performances across various genres, including international and domestic productions, as well as specially curated shows. This provides a fantastic opportunity for everyone to enjoy a diverse range of cultural experiences free of charge.

Beyond performances, the festival offers a variety of programs such as participatory performances, flea markets, and cultural art experience programs.

In 2023, the festival was renamed the Gwacheon Performing Arts Festival (GPAF) and received the Special Award for Festival Program at the 12th Korea Festival Content Awards for its success as a square-focused performing arts festival enjoyed by citizens.
