The Gangneung Cultural Heritage Night festival brings history to life! Explore the heart of the city where cultural treasures abound, and enjoy a vibrant mix of performances, hands-on activities, and art. This immersive experience aims to highlight the value of Gangneung’s heritage and promote its preservation for generations to come. Since 2016, Gangneung has proudly participated in the National Heritage Night program organized by the Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea.
Centered around the historical Gangneung Daedohobu Government Office and Seoboo Market, the festival transforms the night with eight themed programs:
- Night View (Yagyeong): Immerse yourself in the beauty of illuminated historical sites.
- Night Road (Yaro): Stroll through charming streets adorned with traditional decorations.
- Night History (Yasa): Uncover fascinating stories and insights into Gangneung’s past.
- Night Flower (Yahwa): Enjoy captivating performances that blend tradition and modernity.
- Night Talk (Yaseol): Engage in insightful conversations and lectures about cultural heritage.
- Night Food (Yasik): Indulge in delicious local delicacies and traditional treats.
- Night Stay (Yasuk): Experience the unique charm of staying in a traditional Hanok.
- Night Market (Yasi): Discover unique crafts and souvenirs at the bustling night market.
Each program offers a unique blend of sights, sounds, and tastes, allowing visitors to connect with the spirit of Gangneung’s heritage.

- Main Programs: Don’t miss the grand opening ceremony, the captivating "Elegance of Gangneung" Hanbok fashion show, a mesmerizing drone show, the "Drawing Gangneung’s Cultural Heritage" exhibition, and engaging programs linked to the local market.
- Special Performances: Experience the vibrancy of traditional Korean arts with performances like the Gangneung Danoje ‘Gwano Mask Dance’, the energetic Gangneung Nongak (farmers’ music and dance), the craftsmanship of the Bangjja (brassware) spoon workshop, the soulful melodies of Gangneung Haksan Odokdegi folk songs, and the spiritual rhythms of Gangneung Danoje shamanic music.
- Audience Participation: Savor local flavors at the 8 food trucks, quench your thirst at the "Night Beer Street," explore the "Gangneung Food Culture Market," enjoy live music with "Dalbam (Moonlight) Busking," and collect stamps for special deals with the "Twinkling Night Coupon" event.
