The ASSITEJ Korea International Summer Festival is the largest performing arts festival for children and youth in Korea, showcasing outstanding domestic and international productions.
History:
- Launched in 1993 as the "Seoul Children’s Theatre Festival."
- Expanded to an international event in 1995, inviting acclaimed performances from around the world.
- Renamed "Seoul International Children’s Performing Arts Festival" in 1997.
- Became the "Seoul Children & Youth Performing Arts Festival" in 2001.
- Officially adopted the name "ASSITEJ Korea International Summer Festival" in 2013, further solidifying its global presence.
Highlights:
- Over the past 25 years, the festival has captivated over 300,000 audience members.
- Features a diverse range of performances, including plays, dance, musicals, and object theatre.
- Offers engaging workshops and exhibitions for children and youth.
- Received an "A" rating from the Arts Council Korea for four consecutive years (2014-2017) and an "S" rating in 2018, solidifying its reputation as a leading performing arts festival in Korea.
