Spot Information: Nayabashi

Nayabashi Bridge, an integral part of Nagoya’s history, is one of the seven bridges that span the Horikawa River. Its significance grew in 1886, following the construction of Nagoya Station in Sasashima, leading to the westward extension of Hirokoji Street and drawing increased attention to the bridge. A bridge featuring bronze cast iron railings was erected in 1913.

The current iteration of the bridge, rebuilt in 1981, maintains the original arched design, preserving a sense of historical continuity.
