Empowering Voices: Korea’s 2024 Media Content Contest for Disability Inclusion

The Korea Communications Commission invites you to participate in the 2024 Media Content Contest for Disability Inclusion. This contest, open to all residents of Korea (excluding broadcasting companies), aims to promote understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities through powerful storytelling.

Theme: Disability and people with disabilities

Contest Period: July 2nd, 2024 – September 3rd, 2024

Awards:

The contest features three distinct categories, offering opportunities for a diverse range of storytellers:

  • Disability Theme: Open to all participants, this category welcomes content focused on disability and the lived experiences of people with disabilities.
  • Created by a Person with Disability: This category celebrates the creative voices of individuals with disabilities, providing a platform to share their unique perspectives.
  • Short-Form Video: Recognizing the impact of short-form content, this category encourages submissions tailored for online platforms.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony scheduled for December 5th, 2024. Details regarding the venue and confirmed schedule will be shared directly with finalists and announced publicly at a later date.

Judging Criteria:

Submissions will be evaluated based on:

  • Production Quality: Technical excellence in audio, visual, and editing aspects.
  • Creativity & Challenge: Originality of concept and the courage to explore new perspectives.
  • Directing & Planning Skills: Effective storytelling techniques and clear communication of the intended message.

Submission Format:

Submissions can be made via email or postal mail. Detailed instructions are available on the application form.

How to Apply:

  1. Download the application form from the Korea Center for Media & Education website.
  2. Carefully fill out all required sections of the application.
  3. Submit your completed application and content according to the provided guidelines.

Judging Process:

A distinguished judging committee, comprising at least six internal and external experts from academia, media, civic groups, and relevant fields, will oversee the selection process. The committee operates under the supervision of the Korea Communications Commission and the Korea Center for Media & Education, ensuring fairness and expertise.

Important Notes:

  • Only content produced after January 2023 is eligible.
  • Individuals are limited to one entry.
  • Previously awarded content in the field of disability media is not eligible.
  • Content that has received awards in contests organized by the Korea Communications Commission or the Korea Center for Media & Education (and its centers) is not eligible.
