2024 Public Diplomacy Data Utilization Competition

Calling all innovators! Do you have a creative idea to tackle social issues using public diplomacy data? The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea invites you to participate in the 2024 Public Diplomacy Data Utilization Competition.

Who can participate?

Anyone in Korea with an interest in public diplomacy data can participate individually or in teams of up to 4 members. However, each participant or team can submit only one entry. Please note that using pre-existing ideas that have won awards in other startup competitions or infringing on copyrights will result in disqualification.

What are the categories?

This competition focuses on innovative ideas that utilize public diplomacy data to address social issues. You can use any data available on public data portals, including:

  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA)
  • Korea Foundation (KF)
  • Korea-Africa Foundation

How to apply?

Submission Period: May 16, 2024 (Thursday) to July 15, 2024 (Monday), 18:00 KST

Document and Presentation Evaluation: Mid-July to Early August 2024

Result Announcement and Award Ceremony: Mid-August 2024

Please note that the schedule is subject to change, and the results will be announced individually.

Submission Method:

  • Documents: Application form, Idea Proposal, Agreement for Collection and Use of Personal Information (Refer to the attached form)
  • Submission: Directly through e-People (https://www.epeople.go.kr) or email ([email protected])
  • Presentation: Presentation manuscript (free format, presentation file) – applicable to finalists only

Evaluation Criteria:

Your submission will be evaluated based on:

  • Public data utilization
  • Concreteness
  • Originality
  • Development potential
  • Social value creation

Prizes:

A total of 5 individuals or teams will be selected and awarded prizes, including Minister’s Award and President’s Award.

Important Notes:

  • The number of awards and prize money may be adjusted depending on the quality of submissions.
  • Submitted ideas may be used for future public diplomacy data policies.
  • Plagiarism or submitting previously awarded entries will result in disqualification.
  • Copyright of the submitted materials belongs to the applicant, while the organizers reserve the right to use them.
